Applicants for statewide background checks can select the person or agency who will receive their results. However, the Federal Bureau of Investigation requires the federal background check to be issued directly to the employer or agency. The background check results are processed and mailed within seven days.

The Ohio Revised Code limits federal background checks to following categories of people:
  • Employees of schools or other agencies working with children
  • Foster parents
  • Day care employees
  • Employees of county Boards of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities
  • Employees of Children's Services organizations
  • Caregivers for the elderly
  • Medical personnel

The Web Check program provides a valuable service to the community and the health care workers, school district employees, MRDD employees and adoptive parents who are required by law to provide criminal background information to their employers.   Faster and more efficient than traditional methods, Web Check makes criminal background information available within days.
