EMPLOYMENT EXCUSAL

Employers are prohibited from penalizing employees who serve as jurors.

When reporting for service, Jurors may request work certification slips to provide to their employers. Section 2313.18 of the Ohio Revised Code states that employers are prohibited from discharging, laying off, denying advancement, or otherwise penalizing employees who miss work because of jury service.  Whoever violates this section shall be punished by contempt of court.
